Holle Thee Maxwell<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0was born on\u00a0October 17,\u00a0 1945<\/strong>\u00a0as\u00a0HOLLE THEE MARCLA RODE MAXWELL<\/strong><\/span>. She recorded singles under the name\u00a0\u201cHolly Maxwell<\/span>\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0in the\u00a01960s-1970s<\/strong>\u00a0for the record labelsConstellation<\/strong>,\u00a0(Curtis Mayfield\u2019s) Curtom Records, Smit-Whit,<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Star<\/strong>. Her songs\u00a0\u00a0\u201cOnly When You\u2019re Lonely\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cOne\u00a0Thin Dime\u201d<\/strong>,\u00a0\u201cNever Love Again\u201d<\/strong>,\u00a0\u201cSuffer\u201d<\/strong>, and\u00a0\u201cPhilly Barracuda\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0were regional hits across the country. Today, her singles are sought by collectors across the world, especially in Europe where they call her sound\u00a0\u201cNorthern Soul\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Holle Thee<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 sang her\u00a0first song professionally<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0age of 5<\/strong>, studied\u00a0classical voice<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0piano<\/strong>\u00a0at the age of\u00a09<\/strong>, and\u00a0graduated<\/strong>\u00a0with\u00a0degrees<\/strong>\u00a0from both\u00a0The Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt\u00a0University<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0The Julliard\u00a0School in New York\u00a0City.<\/strong><\/p>\n
