CORNELIUS GRANT
Cornelius Grant eventually became commonly referred to as the “Sixth Temptation” (Motown’s Temptations) much like Billy Preston was considered the “Fifth Beatle” (London’s Abbey Road Beatles). Both have been recognized and applauded for their unique and timely musical contributions for two of the best known groups of all time!
He co-wrote the blockbuster, “(I know) I’m losing you” for The Temptations (which has been covered by many [most notably Rod Stewart and Rare Earth]); as well as other favorites like “You’re My Everything” (Temptations), and many more hits for such artists as Gladys Knight & The Pips, Martha Reeves, Rose Royce, Edwin Starr, Marvin Gaye, The Commodores, The Jackson Five and Stevie Wonder.
While traveling with the Temptations, Grant covered the four corners of the globe highlighted by an appearance at The White House and an engagement in London for an audience with the Archbishop of Canterbury. In 1983 he began writing for the Hollywood Reporter and contributed extensively to BRE Magazine as a columnist. He received the “Living Legends” award from the Los Angeles Black Music Organization in September 2002. On his birthday in 2003 Grant received a citation from the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles for his accomplishments and outstanding contributions to the field of music. Recently he received a certificate of appreciation from the City of Los Angeles for accomplishments which have helped to further the common goal of making the city a better place in which to live.
Grant is presently co-producer and co-host of the CORNELIUS GRANT’S FLASHBACKS AND NEW TRAKS (CGFNT) internet radio show featuring interviews, entertainment news, oldies music, and many interesting points of view.
A weekly comedy show called “Do You Think You’re Funny” (DYTYF) produced by Grant is celebrating it’s second year at Barbara Morrison’s Performing Arts Center.
In addition, in 2012 he presented the 2nd. Annual Skoole Awards to salute the old school pioneers and entrepreneurs whose life’s work has made a difference in the entertainment lives of our nation and the rest of the world.
