IGGY & THE ROUGH RIDERS

I am a Proud Single Father of 5 Amazing Boys“!!!!! It is our family goal to set out and make something of ourselves and show the world our talent and passion for music. It’s been with great dedication, determination, devotion and hard work that we all know can make this possible! Many are going through hard times these days, and we find ourselves among them… we know what it takes to have a roof over your head and to eat a decent meal. Together we can overcome these hardships and trying times…we hope our music will serve to “inspire” everyone! For over 11 years now we have been practicing, performing, doing gigs and showing our talent from small showcases to “reputable” venues such as the Famous & Historic “Whisky A Go Go” in Hollywood, to include all The House Of Blues in California, The Famous Underground Anarchy Library all the way to the famous Dive Bar in Las Vegas!  We have gone from our small hometown of Hemet to Hollywood, San Diego and Las Vegas. Now it’s our time to shine.   Music is the “key” to the souls. We want to share our “key” with everyone…

BRADLEY RAPIER

As founder and artistic director of the award winning performance group, The Groovaloos, and co-creator and director of choreography of the Off Broadway smash GROOVALOO, Bradley’s goal has been to spread the power, beauty and endless creativity within the hip hop dance culture with the world. He was born and raised in Canada. There, in high school, Bradley was recruited by StreetScape, the country’s foremost street dancing troupe, introducing him to the magical qualities of the art form that drive him to this day. Previously on a medical career path like his father, Bradley was changed forever. He went on to choreograph and perform nationally on all mediums and, after taking 1st place at a Canadian Talent Search and top honors in both Los Angeles and New York at The International IMTA Awards, Bradley relocated to the USA.

Soon after the move Bradley was honored with an American Choreography Award nomination and a Hip Hop Choreography Award for his outstanding commercial work. On the theater front his cool style and creative approach on City Kid was touted as “miraculous” and “exhilarating” by The LA Times and garnered him both the 2008 Ovation and NAACP Award for Best Musical Choreography. He followed with a 2009 NAACP Best Choreography Award for his work on the Reprise Theater production of Once On This Island, leading The Daily News to declare:

“Musical theater producers everywhere should probably start putting Rapier on speed dial.”

Bradley’s TV and commercial choreography credits include Lincoln Heights, Days of Our Lives, The Image Awards, TV Land Awards, MTV’s 2gether, Skechers, Wrigley’s and Sony. Additional credits include performances and/or choreography for: Queen Latifah, Miley Cyrus, Brian McKnight, Diana Ross, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Boyz II Men, Cameron Diaz, Alanis Morissette, and Fat Boy Slim along with numerous TV commercials for brand name corporations.

Most recently, Bradley was associate choreographer under Broadway Director Des McAnuff for the remount of the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Jesus Christ Superstar. The new production is playing to rave reviews at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and will be heading to Broadway in March of 2012 after a short run at the La Jolla Playhouse.

Marishka Phillips Theatrical Preparatory Workshop In Los Angeles 12/3 & 12/10

PILLOW THEORY is a NYC quartet who delivers a high-powered dynamic sound while successfully genre hopping under the modern rock umbrella (metal, punk, pop, electro). The band has received accolades from Rolling Stone, Village Voice, Yahoo and SONY PSP to name a few. They’ve blazed the stage warming up for TV On The Radio, Living Colour & Ninjasonik.

They collaborated with sonic genius Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, NIN) for their sophomore release OUTPATIENCE in 2007. With Albini, they were able to manipulate their ever-changing moods to blend a sporadic yet cohesive sound. The album displays a delicate balance between heavy and light with change ups that may seem bizarre on paper, but work eloquently in sound. Outpatience was chosen as one of the VILLAGE VOICE’s “best of” in their yearly Pazz & Jop poll before it was even released.

In July 2011, they self-released their new EP titled MELTDOWN, produced by Slim Willy (Ferrari Snowday, Ninjasonik, LL Cool J) and Kelsey with additional mixing from sound master Ron Saint Germain. This long awaited follow up is a non-stop rollercoaster ride of aural excitement taking the band to the next level sonically and lyrically. This fall, the band will return to the road for their Meltdown 2011 tour!

Musical Artists Include: Pillow Theory, Noah Silver, Sheldon Botler, Ben Fagan & The Holy City Hooligans & Shred Rot!

Wed 11/16 & Thurs 11/17 – The Underground Experience Presents “The Divine Ms. Devin Ford!” Photographer, Activist & Filmmaker

The Divine Devin Ford From “LA”…to LA. At age 5, Devin Ford tagged along with her mother to a photography class in her native Grand Bay, Alabama. Even at that early age, the experience ignited a passion for photography that still burns today. Photography is very much a part of who she is and her daily life. Not suited for small town life, Devin hid her artistic and intellectual pursuits while growing up, thinking it would alienate her from her friends. She kept her light under a bushel, as they say in the South.

Oddly enough, it was after seeing a performance of a drag queen named Venus that the 21 year old was ready to shine. Inspired by Venus’ confidence, comfort and complete self-awareness, Devin enrolled in photography classes, some 15 years after that fateful day as a little girl in class with her mom. Venus, in fact, became one of Devin’s favorite camera subjects. She was a muse to the budding photographer. Devin is currently completing a book and documentary featuring Venus and the “ladies” of B-Bob’s Club in Mobile.

Ambitious, creative and free-thinking, Devin said goodbye to LA (Lower Alabama) and set her sights on LA (Los Angeles), where she is thriving as a professional photographer and community leader. As an artist, she is a firm believer in collaborating with the client to tell the “story” of the image she’s capturing. As a business woman, she applies her southern hospitality while anticipating and fulfilling client expectations, taking their viewpoint into account, to create images that are compelling and well-composed, be it a person, a product, or a place.

Devin is very much a visual communicator who credits Fine Art photographer Jane Gottlieb for pushing her to pursue her dreams, and celebrity shutterbug John Russo for teaching her the business of professional photography. Devin is a graduate of The Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. She is also a West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce- Board Director, National Women’s Political Caucus LA/Westside – Board Director and co-Liaison to Women’s Groups, West Hollywood Women’s Leadership Conference – Steering Committee, and Ebell Wilshire Women’s Club Member.

Co-founder of social network site Diaspora, Ilya Zhitomirskiy, dies at 22

APBy Brooke Donald, Associated Press | AP –

PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) — Ilya Zhitomirskiy, a co-founder of the startup social networking site Diaspora that put an emphasis on privacy and user-control, has died, a company spokesman said Monday. He was 22.

The cause of Zhitomirskiy’s death in San Francisco wasn’t immediately known, and neither the company nor the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s office would release details.

“Ilya was a great guy. He was a visionary, he was a co-founder of a company that hopes to bring a better social networking experience,” said Peter Schurman, a Diaspora spokesman. “We are all very sad that he is gone. It is a huge loss for all of us, including his family.”

Zhitomirskiy was one of four students who started Diaspora in a computer lab at New York University.

As an anti-Facebook of sorts, the group raised more than $200,000 by collecting contributions through the website Kickstarter.

Last month, it posted a blog on its website asking for more contributions.

The site champions the idea of sharing while keeping control. On its website, the company promotes itself as a “fun and creative community that puts you in control.”

In a video posted on Vimeo in April 2010, when Diaspora first went looking for funds, Zhitomirskiy describes his vision.

“No longer will you be at the whims of those large corporate networks who want to tell you that sharing and privacy are mutually exclusive,” Zhitomirskiy said alongside co-founders Raphael Sofaer, Dan Grippi, and Max Salzber.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is listed as a supporter. He told Wired.com in May 2010 after Facebook announced new privacy controls that he liked the open source project. “I think it is cool people are trying to do it. I see a little of myself in them,” he said.

According to Zhitomirskiy’s profile on Diaspora, he’s “super passionate about building a world of hacker spaces, maker culture, sharing, cycling, and life satisfaction.”

In a September 2010 interview with New York Magazine, Zhitomirskiy said he wanted social network users to migrate to websites that were more transparent about privacy policies.

Zhitomirskiy said he and his co-founders didn’t set out to make money when they created Diaspora but to instead provide an “open platform” for users.

“There’s something deeper than making money off stuff,” Zhitomirskiy said. “Being a part of creating stuff for the universe is awesome.”
